Three sides to skiing

Three distinct sides make up the ski area at Kvitfjell: the newly expanded Varden area, Kvitfjell Vest (west) and the original ski area of Kvitfjell itself – home to the Olympic downhill. The modern lift system allows you to easily access the full ski arrea and terrain which is suitable to all skill levels. 

Olympic quality

Kvitfjell skiing resort was originally developed for the downhill alpine events at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. Now, it's a regular venue on the Alpine Skiing World Cup circuit. The Olympiabakken downhill course, which was designed by Bergard Russi, is highly regarded among the world's best skiers. The consistent snowfall, long season and combination of world-class slopes make it a ski enthusiast's dream. 

Family friendly 

At Kvitfjell you have great kids areas with wide slopes and easy lifts. Try the green terrain park especially designed for small park enthusiasts or try the children's own world cup slope with a real start port, games and timing! When the children want bigger challenges, they can try out Kvitfjell's terrain park with jumps and rails in all shapes, sizes and degrees of difficulty.

Mountain sides

All good things are three

The mountain area at Kvitfjell is divided in three areas: The original ski area, the West side and Varden.The west side of the mountain is called the Sunny Side. The accommodations have great sun conditions and immediate access to beautiful nature. The skiing is varied and family friendly. Varden is Kvitfjells newest mountain side with five kilometers of especially family-friendly slopes, perfect for beginners. Varden has a chairlift and new, nice cabins for rent right next to the slopes. It's connected to the west side of the mountain by a short gondola.

Kvitfjell is a place for enjoyment and relaxation. Here you will find all facilities you need for a complete skiing holiday! At Skitorget you will find ski rental, sports shop, the restuarant Gondolen Fjellbistro, and ticket sale. After a day on the slopes you can relax in front of the fireplace, in the cabin with the family, in the lounge at GudbrandsGard hotel, in the pool, at the spa or at one of the child-friendly restaurants. Kvitfjell is proud to be a destination free from junk- and deep fried food. Instead, Kvitfjell offers exciting food at all eatiries inspired by Gudbrandsdalens's lush hillsides.

Family Friendly Kvitfjell

With many areas specifically dedicated to children, Kvitfjell creates a safe and exhilarating environment for the whole family. The west side of the mountain offers easy lifts and both green and blue slopes. You can be an alpine star for a day and challenge family and friends in the KIDS World Cup slope, a mini version of the World Cup slope! When the children are ready for bigger challenges, they can try out Kvitfjell's terrain parks with jumps in all sizes. The park is known for being adventurous, playful and ready for new jumps and tricks every day.

Getting there

Kvitfjell lies just 40 kilometers north of Lillehammer and 240 kilometers north of Oslo. Easily accessible by bus, train and car the resort is approximately 200 km north of Oslo airport. 

Train

The closest train station is located in Ringebu, from there Kvitfjell is just a short taxi ride away.

By car

The drive from Oslo is straightforward and quick. Once on the E6 or RV4 it takes about three hours to get to Kvitfjell.
